Problems and disappointments in collecting

Sadly, when shipping glass, there is incidental loss and breakage.  I found that to secure glass, you have to ship in a sturdy box.  Some safety precautions that should help your glass arrive safely are:
* Double box your items.  Glass goes into the inner box, and smaller box is boxed into a larger box.
* Wrap your glass in paper first, and then bubble wrap.  Paper will prevent the plastic from melting onto the glass, a problem in hot weather.
* Provide a lot of cushion using old newspapers, bubble wrap, packaging peanuts.  It is important for cushion material to absorb the shock that glass may be exposed to while in transit.
*Buy from reputable sellers.  On occasion, sellers don't disloclose damages of the item, and you will receive item that was already damaged when shipped.

I don't have a good idea how to handle disappointments.  Try to return or get a refund for breakage.  Some of your dollars may have to go to waste in this hobby as glass is a very fragile item.  When buying online, there will always be people who hide problems with the items they are selling, sometimes intentionally and sometimes not.  Glass collectors typically want to buy excellent condition which means no flaws and as close as possible as mint.
